CSA Pick Up Instructions for Members
Our CSA pick-ups are self-serve.
Please take only the shares listed next to your name on the sign-in sheet.
If you believe you should be receiving an item that is not listed on the sign in sheet, please contact us, and we'll be happy to help.
Transfer your items into your own bag or basket. If you happen to forget a bag or basket, it is okay to take your items home in the vegetable box.
Once you have your shares, please check your name off of the sign-in sheet.
Please remember to double-check your shares, even if your host hands them to you.
Please break down the vegetable share box and return it to your host or place the box in its designated spot.
Please do not leave behind or return any egg cartons or vegetable containers. We are unable to reuse them once they leave the farm and want to avoid making extra work for our hosts. Please recycle or reuse them as you see fit.
We understand that there may be vegetables that are not everyone’s favorite, but we ask that you do not leave any unwanted vegetables at your pick-up site. We suggest sharing any unwanted items with friends/family or composting them.

What to look for at your CSA pick up location

Spring and fall vegetable shares are all one size which includes 6 items per share, and shares are delivered weekly. Our spring and fall seasons run for a total of 7 weeks each.
Share boxes will be labeled for the appropriate season as “Spring Share” or “Fall Share”. Please remove your produce from the share box and place your items in a bag/basket brought from home.
Please neatly break down your vegetable share box and hand it back to your host or place it neatly in its designated spot.
After you have received your shares, please remember to check your name off the sign in sheet.
Vacation holds are not available during our spring and fall seasons, but we would be happy to arrange for your share to be donated to our local food bank. Donation arrangements must be made the week prior by emailing us at csa@taprootfarmpa.com.

Summer vegetable shares are available in 3 different sizes and boxes are labeled as follows:
Small Share = Green Label
Medium Share = Orange Label
Large Share = Blue Label
Please be sure to take the same size vegetable share that you are signed up for. This can be found on your online account as well as next to your name on the sign in sheet at your pick up location.
Please remove your produce from the share box and place your items in a bag/basket brought from home. Then neatly break down your vegetable share box and hand it back to your host or place it neatly in its designated spot.

Summer vegetable shares are delivered weekly for 23 weeks.
Vacation holds are available during our summer season. Vacation holds must placed on your account at least a week prior. Donating your share to one of our local food banks is also an option. Donation arrangements must be made by emailing us at csa@taprootfarmpa.com the week prior to the donation.

Egg shares come in two sizes : full or half dozen. Please remember 2 half dozen egg containers does not equal a full dozen.
Eggs will be delivered in coolers for optimal freshness and members will remove their appropriate size egg share from the cooler.
If you are unsure what size egg share you are signed up for, please check your online account or next to your name on the sign in sheet at your pick up site before taking your eggs.

Fruit shares are available during our summer and fall seasons.
The summer fruit share runs for 15 weeks, beginning the first week of July.
The fall fruit share is delivered weekly for the entire 7 week season.
Fruit shares come packed in green t-shirt bags, set up in green totes beside the vegetable shares.
1 t-shirt bag = 1 fruit share

Mushroom shares are offered during our spring, summer, and fall seasons and delivered weekly.
Mushroom shares come packed in brown paper bags.
1 brown paper bag = 1 mushroom share

Cheese and yogurt shares are offered during our spring, summer, and fall seasons and delivered on a biweekly schedule.
Members can remove their cheese and/or yogurt shares from the cooler at their pickup site and place them in their bag/ basket brought from home.
1, 24 oz container of yogurt = 1 yogurt share
1 bag = 1 cheese share

Pasta shares are offered during our spring, summer, and fall seasons. Pasta shares are delivered biweekly and will be located in a tote next to the vegetable shares.
1 bag of pasta = 1 pasta share

Honey shares are available during our spring, summer, and fall seasons.
During spring and fall seasons, shares are a 1 time distribution. Members can expect to receive their honey shares the first week of the spring and fall seasons.
Summer honey shares are distributed 4 times throughout the summer season.
Honey shares are labeled in brown paper bags. Please be careful as the honey jars are glass.

FAQ for your CSA

We ask that all CSA related questions or comments be emailed to csa@taprootfarmpa.com.
However, please call or text us on the day of your pick up if you need any immediate assistance with your share.

During our summer season, you can place vacation holds and double shares for an alternative week directly through your online account.
Alternatively, you can donate your share to our local food bank. Donations can be arranged by emailing us at least a week in advance.
Please remember that all vacation holds, double share requests, and donation requests must be placed no later than a week before the hold or donation is needed. Holds and double shares will include all shares in your membership for that week (e.g., vegetable, egg, mushroom shares, etc.). There is no limit on the number of holds you can request during the summer season.
While we do not offer vacation holds during the spring and fall seasons, you always have the option to donate your share if you're unable to pick it up. Similar to summer holds, donation requests must be made the week prior to the donation.

Yes, you can permanently update your pick-up location for the rest of the season or make a temporary change for a single week by logging into your online account.
Please note that any changes must be made by the week prior to the desired location switch.

We're happy to accommodate changes to your share throughout the season.
Adding Shares: You can add additional shares to your account at any point during the season, as long as we have availability. The cost of any shares added after the start of the season will be prorated to cover only the weeks remaining.
Changing Share Size: You can change the size of your share; however, please note that we do not offer refunds if you downgrade to a smaller share.
If you're unsure which size is right for you, we recommend starting with a small share. You can always upgrade to a larger size later in the season, and your balance will be prorated accordingly.

Please remember that your CSA shares are only guaranteed during your scheduled pick-up window. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may occasionally cause you to miss a pick-up or arrive late. If this happens, please contact us as soon as possible so we can try our best to arrange a late pick up with your host.
We kindly ask that you not arrive early or late for your pick-up without contacting us first.

Yes, a friend or family member is welcome to pick up your share. You do not need to notify us if someone other than yourself is picking up your shares, but please be sure to share all pick up instructions with them to ensure a smooth process.
We also recommend sharing our cell phone number in case they need to contact us at pick up.
