CSA Pick Up Instructions for Members
Our CSA pick-ups are essentially self-serve.
On this page members can find information about schedule, communication, what to look for at your CSA pickup, vacation holds and more.
If there are ever any questions on the day of pick up we encourage members to call.

Communication
Each week we send harvest emails to our members the morning of the CSA delivery with the list of veggies to expect that day, some farm news, food storage tips, recipe inspiration, and more.
Members will also receive a CSA pick up reminder email each week with their CSA location details.
Harvest emails are delivered weekly regardless of schedule changes. Pick up reminder emails are only sent out on a scheduled pick up day, i.e. reminder emails will not go out if a vacation hold is scheduled by the member for that given week.
Schedule
Members can place their shares on hold, donate their share, or switch their CSA location as needed throughout the summer season. We are unable to accommodate vacation holds for the spring & fall CSA seasons.
Please follow the guidelines below so we can best accommodate your schedule needs.
> All schedule change requests must be submitted by Sunday night @ 11:59PM of the week you'd like to update.
> Vacation holds & schedule requests can be scheduled in advance by logging into your membership account or by sending us an email by the above time request.
Pickup
CSA Shares are only available and guaranteed during the hours scheduled for your pickup location. Members can find their schedule details by logging into their membership account.
Our gracious hosts have agreed to make their pickup spaces available during the scheduled pickup time. Please be sure to respect the hours of that pickup window.
If you know you'll be running late please give us a call and we'll see if the share can be held for you!
What to look for at your CSA pick up location
Our CSA pick-ups are essentially self-serve.
Please read the instructions below to help ensure a smooth CSA experience for everyone.
At each CSA location, we provide a weekly sign in sheet with the names of each member and their share listed.
Each share is distributed specifically for the members listed. Please only take the shares listed next to your name on the sign-in sheet, and please remember to check your name off.
If you believe you should be receiving an item that is not listed on the sign in sheet or if you do not see the share set out for you, please contact us by phone right away and we'll be happy to help.
Please double-check you have taken the correct shares, even if they are handed to you by the host.
Your CSA shares are delivered packed in boxes. We encourage members to bring their own bags to take their CSA bounty.
Please help keep your CSA location neat and tidy: break down your CSA box after you unpack your share & stack them neatly in their designated location.
Please do not leave behind any empty egg cartons or vegetable containers.
Please do not leave behind any unwanted veggies. We understand that everyone doesn’t love everything, but we suggest sharing any unwanted items with friends/family, and we encourage you to email us for suggestions on how to use your veggies if you need help!

During our summer season, members can place vacation holds and schedule make up shares directly through their online account.
Alternatively, members can also choose to donate a share on any given week to our local food bank.
All vacation holds & donation requests must be submitted by Sunday night @ 11:59PM of the week you'd like to update.
When placing a share on hold, all share types are considered (i.e. mushroom shares, egg shares, etc.).
While we do not offer vacation holds during the spring and fall seasons due to the scarcity of the harvest season, members always have the option to donate their share if they are unable to pick it up. Similar to summer holds, donation requests must be made by the above time request.

We're happy to accommodate updates to your CSA shares throughout the season.
Adding Shares: You can add additional shares to your account at any point during the season, as long as we have availability. The cost of any shares added after the start of the season will be prorated to cover only the weeks remaining.
Changing Share Size: You can change the size of your share; however, please note that we do not offer refunds if you downgrade to a smaller share. If you're unsure which size is right for you, we recommend starting with a small share. You can always upgrade to a larger size later in the season, and your balance will be prorated accordingly.
If you're interested in making any updates to your csa shares, please email us at csa@taprootfarmpa.com.

We kindly ask members not to arrive early or late for your pick-up without contacting us for permission first.
